Flower Arranging
Sangetsu, meaning mountain moon, is a school of flower arranging inspired by visionary and master artist Mokichi Okada, who promoted a spiritual approach to life through beauty. He taught that beauty has the power to transform-to purify the spirit and evoke the highest qualities of character from within. He also taught that nature is the greatest teacher of truth and beauty. An artist in many regards, Okada arranged flowers in a simple yet beautiful way, resulting in works of art that uplifted and inspired all who saw them.

Public Gardens
Descanso Gardens is open daily except for Christmas. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last entry is 4:30 p.m.). There is ample free parking. General $8. Senior/Students $6. Children (5 to 12 years) $3. Guild members and children under 5 free. www.descansogardens.org/
The Huntington Botanical Gardens - Pasadena, CA
In 1903 Henry Huntington purchased the San Marino Ranch, a working ranch with citrus groves, nut and fruit orchards, alfalfa crops, a small herd of cows, and poultry. His superintendent, William Hertrich, was instrumental in developing the various plant collections that comprise the foundation of the botanical gardens. The property—originally nearly 600 acres—today covers 207 acres, of which approximately 120 are landscaped and open to visitors.
